Former South Africa captain Faf du Plessis has bid an emotional farewell to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) after three memorable seasons. In a heartfelt message shared on Instagram, Du Plessis expressed his gratitude to his teammates, loyal fans, and the team management. The 40-year-old cricketer reflected on his incredible journey with RCB and cherished the memories he created during his time with the franchise.
A Heartfelt Goodbye from Du Plessis
Du Plessis joined RCB in 2022 and served as captain until now. Despite his contributions, the franchise did not retain him ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, where he was picked up by Delhi Capitals (DC) for his base price of ₹2 crore. In his farewell message, he wrote, “As my chapter closes with RCB, I want to take a moment to reflect on what an incredible journey this has been. When I joined three years ago, I had no idea how this journey would unfold.”
He continued to express his love for Bengaluru and the RCB community: “This place and its people have become a part of who I am, and I’ll carry these memories and the connections I’ve built with me forever.” Du Plessis also highlighted the electrifying atmosphere at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, stating, “Playing at the Chinnaswamy Stadium has been one of the most electric experiences of my career.”
Transition to Delhi Capitals
Following his departure from RCB, Du Plessis is eager to start a new chapter with Delhi Capitals. In a video shared on DC’s social media platforms, he expressed excitement about contributing to his new team: “Always an honour and privilege to be a part of the IPL. I am super proud to once again be in the IPL and this time around with the Delhi Capitals.”
Du Plessis emphasized his commitment to adding value to the team as they prepare for the upcoming season. This transition marks a significant moment in his career as he aims to make an impact with DC.
