Kayla Nicole’s past with Travis Kelce will be part of her story on season 3 of in Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test.
“Going through a public breakup, it’s been overwhelming,” Nicole, 32, said in Us Weekly’s exclusive sneak peek of season 3. While the voiceover played, Nicole was seen sitting at a table and wiping a tear from her face.
The clip then cut to Nicole talking with her costars, who asked the name of her ex. “Travis Kelce,” Nicole whispered. (Nicole dated Kelce, 35, on and off between 2017 and 2022 before splitting for good. He later moved on with Taylor Swift in summer 2023.)
Nicole isn’t the only contestant who’s reflecting on their past during their stint on the reality TV series.
“I had an incredible mother. Father, Bruce, at the time, wasn’t around that much,” Brody Jenner said in the clip, referring to Caitlyn Jenner, who was married to Linda Thompson from 1981 to 1986.
While talking during a confessional, Denise Richards added, “I’ve been in situations where I freeze.”
The action-packed clip showed snippets of the contestants competing in various challenges both on land and in water. At the end of the video, Trista Sutter jumped from a boat onto the side of a helicopter.
Fox announced the 16 new recruits — including Nicole, Brody, Richards, Sutter, Cam Newton, Stephen Baldwin, Carey Hart and more — earlier this month. During the show’s five-week run, viewers will watch the stars try their hand at the “harshest, most grueling challenges from the playbook of the actual Special Forces selection process” while training in Wales, England, per Fox.
While there are no votes or elimination on the series, the contestants must survive in order to continue. For season 3, the celebrities are faced with tasks including “a high pressure hostage rescue, a treacherous ladder crossing between steep cliffs nearly 100 ft above the sea, a boat dunk drill where they will be submerged into the frigid ocean and tasked with performing essential survival duties, a surf immersion where they will have to control their panic in an exercise that takes them to the brink of drowning, and much more.”
The training exercises are led by ex-special forces operatives, Directing Staff (DS) agents Rudy Reyes, Mark “Billy” Billingham, Jason “Foxy” Fox and Jovon “Q” Quarles.
Season 3 of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test premieres on Fox Wednesday, January 8, at 8 p.m. ET.
